ROCKVILLE, MD – The U.s. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) has been released by 2012 USP food supplements Compendium (DSC) to help manufacturers, Suppliers, laboratories and regulatory agencies to ensure the quality of raw materials used in food supplements ingredients and products. The publication is designed to help producers of food supplements in developing quality specifications, testing new products, qualification of raw materials and protect their entire supply chain. According to the standard USP, in publications, which are updated and published every two years, can also be used as a basis for the buyer-supplier relationship and contractual agreements regarding the expected quality of the components of a food supplement.

DSC includes specifics on methods of analysis and specifications, as well as important information on the regulatory framework for dietary supplements industry guide, the document and dietary intake levels. Other features are practical for manufacturers, material suppliers, contract laboratories and regulatory agencies including the checklist to audit both the manufacturing practice (GMP) used by the USP Verification Program of food supplements; Good agricultural practices (Gap) of Herbal Products Association (AHPA); and FTC guidelines and FDA compliance label for food supplements.

Publications offered in a two-volume set contains: more than 550 monographs for the finished product, material and other components (including info from the USP’s National Formulary (USP-NF a 35-30) and the Food Chemicals Codex (FCC), eighth edition, and the 64 new dietary supplement monographs and 150 excipient);  revised acceptance safety reviews for 23 dietary supplement ingredients include black cohosh, green tea extract, melatonin, Boswellia serrata, Garcinia cambogia, maca and more Caffeine-free (source: USP expert committees); and more than 300 pages of full-color illustrations including photographs, diagrams, macroscopic chemical structure/TLC/HPTLC and HPLC GC chromatograms which exemplifies the compendial test performance.

The report also shows how the Medicare spending on each doctor’s patients compared with their local counterparts in Kansas, Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska.

“Use of resources” report, which Medicare plan to eventually give physicians nationwide, is one of the most visible phase of the Government’s effort to figure out how to enact complex, subtle and a little noticed provision of health law 2010: pay more for physicians who provide quality care at lower costs to Medicare and reduces payments to doctors who keep costs Medicare’s with no better results.
